BPI Building Analyst Supplement for HERS Raters
Our BPI Building Analyst Supplement for HERS Raters training is specifically designed for professionals that are already a certified RESNET HERS Rater.
Online Classroom Training – Phase 1
The “classroom” phase of training is held entirely online using the EnergyLogic Academy’s online learning management system. The EnergyLogic eLearning environment recognizes the different learning styles of students and overcomes traditional classroom-only based training. Our approach advances the state of online learning in the industry by engaging students with a full spectrum of multimedia components, interactive lessons, quizzes, progress evaluations, and live instructor interaction.
Classroom Learning Outcomes:
- To understand the home energy auditing process
- To understand the combustion safety testing process and evaluation
- To understand the BPI Building Analyst Standards
- To prepare for the BPI Building Analyst written exam
Field Training – Phase 2
After successfully completing the online training, candidates will join EnergyLogic (or a proxy trainer) for field training. The field training is dedicated to hands-on time with tools and to learning testing processes.
The field training takes place over 4 days. During the field portion, we will conduct diagnostic testing labs, audit multiple homes, and complete the exams.
The EnergyLogic Academy is committed to providing the highest quality field training. To this end, we are committed to small class sizes. Our field trainings are capped at 5 people to ensure extensive hands-on time with the tools and one-on-one time with the instructor.
Field Learning Outcomes:
- To develop a full understanding of measuring and inspecting a home for home energy audits
- To apply the BPI Building Analyst Standards during field inspections
- To develop competency using the manometer
- To develop competency using the blower door system
- To develop competency testing gas lines using a gas sniffer
- To develop competency using the monoxer
- To develop competency completing combustion safety tests according to BPI standards
- To develop a work scope based on the practice audits
BPI’s written and field exams will both be administered during field training.
Testing
To earn the Building Analyst certification, each candidate is required to take and successfully pass 2 exams (the written and field exams). The first (the written exam) is a 2 hour, 50 question exam administered in the presence of a proctor. The second exam is a 2 hour field practical exam completed in the presence of a proctor. Both of these exams are completed during our field training.
The EnergyLogic Academy is approved as a BPI Test Center.
