Program Overview

The LEED for Homes Program Review course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the LEED for Homes program and credit categories. It covers the key aspects of the program and an in depth review of the credit categories. This program will provide participants a thorough understanding of the LEED for Homes Rating System

This training program meets education requirements listed in the Green Rater Eligibility requirements.


This training consists of 6 self-paced modules. Each module consists of learning resources and a quiz.

  • Module 1 – Overview & Key Aspects
  • Module 2 – Innovation & Design (ID) and Awareness & Education (AE) Categories
  • Module 3 – Linkage & Locations (LL) and Sustainable Sites (SS) Categories
  • Module 4 – Energy & Atmosphere (EA) Category
  • Module 5 – Water Efficiency (WE) and Materials & Resources (MR) Categories
  • Module 6 – Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Category

Credits & Attendance

To receive a certificate of completion all learning resources must be complete and quizzes must be passed with an 80% or higher grade. This is a completely self-paced course. The system will issue a certificate of completion once all items are complete.

This course is ideal for anyone that will be working on a LEED for Homes project team. It also meets Green Rater Training eligibility requirements for education.



Upon successfully completing this webinar series, you should be able to:

  • Describe specific impacts of the residential building sector and benefits of green homes.
  • Understand structure and key aspects of the LEED for Homes Rating System and implementation process, including the role and responsibilities of the key stake holders involved.
  • Define steps to get started with your next LEED for Homes project.
  • Identify the education and additional resources available to support the LEED for Homes program and the residential green building industry at large.
  • Understand the intent, requirements and basic verification needed for each credit in the LEED for Homes Rating System as well as some implementation strategies for obtaining those credits.


Students are not required to purchase any textbooks or materials.  Any necessary resources will be distributed in the course.
